To Kill A Mockingbird Quotes

"You never really understand a person until you consider from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk in it." - Atticus Page 39
This quote is very true, and I feel the same way. You may not understand someone until you are in their position. Then, when you are put in that situation you might finally be able to understand that person.
"When stalking ones prey, it is best to take ones time." - Scout Page 110
I love this quote because it makes me laugh, since Scout is only 8 at the time, and shes talking about how to stalk people when shes only a child. Also, I think its true!
"When a child asks you something, answer him for goodness' sake. But don't make a production out of it. Children are children, but they can spot an evasion quicker than adults, and evasion simply means muddles 'em." - Atticus Page 116
This quote is very true, because kids realize a lot more things than adults think they do. Also, when children ask a question, they want an answer, but not if its going to be a lie.
"Whatever she saids to you, its your job not to let her make you mad" - Atticus Page 133
This quote, I think, applies to everyone. It is your job to live your life. You shouldn't let little things, or people make you mad.
"They're certainly entitled to think that, and they're  entitled to full respect for their opinions" - Atticus Page 139
I agree one hundred percent with this. Even though you may not agree with someone on certain subjects, they should get respect for having an opinion, and they are allowed to think whatever they want.
"There was no point in saying sorry if you aren't" - Atticus Page 140
This is one thing I also agree with. There is no point in saying sorry to someone if you're really not sorry!
"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what." - Atticus Page 149
This quote reminds me that a lot of people think that courage is just being able to have a gun, and stand up for something, but most of the time you do that, you know you will win. But courage is still being able to be couragous, even if you know you will lose.
"That proves something- that a gang of wild animals can be stopped simply becasue they're still human" - Page 210
I think what Atticus says is very true. I interpret this as people, or a mob, can be stopped of what they are doing because they are still human beings. You just have to remind them, and not forget that they're still human.
"People generally see what they look for, and hear what they listen for, and they have the right to subject their children to it, but I can assure you of one: you will receive what you see and hear in silence or you will leave this courtroom" - Page 232
This quote, in my eyes, means that people let themselves hear what THEY want, and not what other people want them to hear. Also that the things that they want to hear, they will.
"Naw, Jem, I think there's just one kind of folks. Folks." - Scout Page 304
This quote is one hundred percent true. That no matter what you are, african american or not, you are a person, and we are all the same in that sense.
"I suggested one could be a ray of sunshine in pants just as well" - Scout Page 108
When Scout said this, I smiled! Its true, that not every girl has to dress in skirts in dresses!
"Sometimes we have to make the best of things, and the way we conduct ourselves when the chips are down" - Atticus Page 139
This quote said it well, that when things are looking down, you can help yourself and try to make the best of things. Things won't always be perfect, and when they aren't you can help yourself by having a better attitude.
